Burgsy’s is an independant family restaurant, which started out as a tiny burger van run by husband and wife on the industrial outskirts of Whitby, North Yorkshire.From the very beginning, our mission has been to serve simple food - well. We prepare everything from scratch, hand-make our burgers, cook our own sauces, and use local ingredients that are fresh and of great quality. In 2015 we rented a tiny premises in the picturesque Whitby town centre. Over the three and a half years there, we built up the Burgsy’s brand and gained some lovely customers. In 2018 we were named the second best burger joint in the country, thanks to the kind reviews left on TripAdvisor.We loved Whitby, but for our next step we knew we had to be in a city, and so we decided to relocate to York. We opened here in May 2019 and only had a few months before the pandemic hit and everything changed... The following couple of years were a steep learning curve of closures, restrictions, safety measures, tests and worries, but we persevered hopeful for the future. In 2023 Burgsy’s moved again and back to basics - a tiny cosy premises in Walmgate. We hope you can feel the warm welcome and the heart that we poured into this small space. We are so happy to have you here!We are trully humbled by the response we got after moving and very thankful for old and new customers, and all the lovely reviews, which are helping us build the business up again in the new location.Of course we wouldn’t be here without all our amazing suppliers. Firstly, meat - glorious meat, comes from the award winning M & K Butchers in York. Our beautiful brioche buns are baked specially for us at the Cawa Bakery. Even the coffee you drink is roasted in Yorkshire by Baytown Coffee Company in Robin Hood’s Bay. The lovely beers come from York’s local Rudgate Brewery, and the wine - from Betton Wines on the Yorkshire coast. We love being part of the local community, and we hope you can taste it in our food, from the first bite of your burger to the last spoonful of Yorvale ice-cream for dessert, and a sip of delicious local Sloemotion gin.Last but not least, we are extremely proud and thankful for our lovely staff. We have built an amazing team of wonderful people, full of care and dedication, working so hard despite the challenges of the past few years.
